Joining the ranks of the biggest Chinese anime that gets Japanese dubs such as Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Psychic Princess, Heaven Official’s Blessing, and Link Click, the Chinese BL donghua Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire comes next in line as it was announced that it will have it turn in January next year.
Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire Japanese Dub
In a thread on Reddit, a Japanese dubbed trailer for Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire had been posted, mentioning that it’ll be released in January 2024, albeit no specific date had been stated yet.
The Japanese dub cast for Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire includes Jun Fukuyama as Sheng Lingyuan, who previously voiced Hua Cheng in the Japanese dub of Heaven Official’s Blessing, and Kensho Ono voicing Xuan Ji.
About Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire
The series is adapted from a danmei novel by Priest. The Chinese anime (donghua) adaptation was released in 2021 by Bilibili and Shengying Animation (the studio behind You Yao: Are You OK?, Chivalrous Hero Shen Jianxin).
Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire was one of the first few donghua that gets released on Crunchyroll and Funimation along with The Defective, Link Click, and Heaven Official’s Blessing.
In the current era, a small percentage of people called “Special Abilities” have skills and powers normal humans do not possess. An autonomous organization, the Deviant Control Office, keeps these Special Abilities in check. Though some wish to maintain this order and peace, some wish to take advantage of their abilities and obtain more power in this world.
On my end, the donghua is one of my top recommended Chinese BL anime, and probably, it is one of the most anticipated ones by many fans that wish for it to have a sequel just like Thousand Autumns, after all, we all badly need Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire Season 2.
