The thoughtful music choices, the minimalistic visual flair—everything about Journal with Witch feels thoughtfully crafted and utterly gorgeous. If you’re looking for a peaceful, reflective escape from the usual high-octane anime fare, this is an absolute must-watch from the Winter 2026 anime lineup.
The Grand Return: “Fate/strange FAKE”
For long-time fans of the Nasuverse, the release of Fate/strange FAKE as a full series has been a long time coming. Having seen the special episodes and teasers from previous years, the hype has been building steadily, and I can confirm: it’s absolutely worth it. As a dedicated Fate enthusiast, this is precisely the kind of rich, intricate story I indulge in.
What truly excites me about Fate/strange FAKE is the sheer audacity of its Servant summons. Imagine the heroic spirit summoned to be the Saber this time around is none other than Richard I the Lionheart of England – an epic leap back to the Plantagenet Dynasty! Beyond Saber, the roster of characters is simply stellar: the enigmatic Assassin girl, the eccentric Flat from the Clock Tower, and of course, the legendary duo of Enkidu and Gilgamesh. And let’s not forget Francesca – or rather, Francois – who is already proving to be my absolute spirit animal. This series is shaping up to be a true gem within the Winter 2026 anime offerings.
“Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game”: A Sakuga Feast
Finally, we arrive at the juggernaut: Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game, which many are simply calling the third season. Delivering two episodes upon its release, this was an absolute feast for the eyes, especially for fans who live and breathe sakuga. The animation is just insane—all those fast-paced fights, the thrilling and enigmatic frames, the unique POVs, and even a touch of nostalgia woven in.
The undeniable highlight? Yuta Okkotsu’s grand entrance. He truly did some next-level “aura farming” this time around, commanding every frame he was in. The clash between Naoya and Choso was equally luscious and fantastic, a masterclass in dynamic combat. We got some poignant flashbacks with Gojo, and Naoya continued to effortlessly cement himself as the character we all love to hate. Seeing the gang – Maki, Megumi, Yuji, Yuta, and Yuki – finally reunited was pure bliss. While I do miss some of the comedic flair from Season 1 (which seems to have diminished as the story grew darker), there were some great gag moments, like Yuji casually dropping the bomb that Choso is his brother. Truly a spectacular return for Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game.
Looking Ahead in Winter 2026 Anime Lineup!
I still have a few more shows on my list to check out. Fire Force Season 3 Part 2 has already started, and I’ve heard great things about Chained Soldier. Champignon Witch also looks promising, especially for fans of the Witch Hat Atelier manga (which is getting an anime adaptation this April!). Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 is patiently waiting like a real boss on the 3rd of the month, and Hell’s Paradise Season 2 is also scheduled to air today.
