One of China’s biggest and most popular sci-fi donghua is now returning this 2022 for its sequel, the highly anticipated The Black Troop Season 3 or also known as Xiong Bing Lian 3: Leiting Wan Jun which had been such a long journey for its avid fans since the official release of its main franchise several years ago.
A few years ago, its prequel The Black Troop: Transcend the Gods had been among the best 3D donghua outside of the cultivation cliches and still holds true until today as it is among the few series that deviates from the traditional theme in Chinese animation and went to explore a story which was influenced by Western fantasy and elements.

The Black Troop Season 3 (Xiong Bing Lian 3: Leiting Wan Jun) Announcement
The Black Troop Season 3 donghua was announced during the 2021 Tencent Video Animation Annual Conference which took place on August 8. The series had been unveiled as one of the upcoming sequels from their list of Chinese anime lineup for 2022 which includes some of the most popular donghua in recent years.
The Black Troop Season 3 is officially titled Xiong Bing Lian in Chinese with the 3rd season having the subtitle Leiting Wan Jun. The series is also known as Transcend the Gods: The Black Troop or Chao Shen Xueyuan: Xiong Bing Lian.
The donghua is one of those Chinese anime series that may sound complicated to new viewers but it follows a rather easy pattern. Its main series is the Super Seminary franchise or also known as Chao Shen Xue Yuan back in 2015. The Black Troop as a series is the 3rd season of Super Seminary.
However, Super Seminary as a series is also a sequel to an earlier franchise which is called La La La De Marcia. The latter had been officially titled Super Seminary upon reaching its 3rd season, thus La La La De Marcia Season 3 had been known as Super Seminary, while Super Seminary Season 3 had been titled officially as The Black Troop.
The donghua features characters from the online game League of Legends, however, the story itself follows a separate route in terms of narrative.
Synopsis
Sun Goddess of the Solari, Leona came to Earth in 2014. The genetics of God hidden on Earth has started to awaken. The first few awakenings include the Power of the Galaxy and God of War. An invasion by the alien Tao Tie, just to entertain Death God Karthus, is on the way to Earth. The Angels, the Devils, and God seminary groups that have been monitoring the genetics of God on Earth make their moves. The God Seminary assembled the scattered warriors across Earth who carry the genetics of God to form the Black Troops. Radiant Dawn, and Leona, lead the team and train them in combat techniques to fight against the invasion. Morgana, the Fallen Angel came to Earth to sow the seed of darkness and plot to destroy the Holy Kayle. Angel Yan was sent to Earth, informing the invasion of the Styx galaxy by Tao Tie. Earth has just become the battlefield for the war of different civilizations. As the disasters continue, the Black Troops will realize they are fighting more than what they are asked for.

Animation Studio & Release Date
Handling the production of The Black Troop Season 3 is Transcendence Picture which had been the animation studio of the entire series since the release of La La La De Marcia in 2011. Transcendence Picture is also known for its works on the action-fantasy donghua, The Rule of Burning Sun (Lie Yang Tiandao), and the upcoming Chinese anime adaptation of The Legendary Mechanic (Chao Shen Jixieshi).
According to its Weibo page, The Black Troop Season 3 is scheduled for release on May 29, 2022, as part of the spring 2022 donghua guide of Tencent Video Animation, thus, fans are going to have a fantastic ride in the 2nd quarter of the year. It will join the likes of previously confirmed spring 2022 donghua such as Throne of Seal, Legendary Twins, Sweet Bite Marks, and many more.
