Anime Movies 2018 Updates: Second Half of the Year’s Releases

The first half of 2018 had been a fantastic ride for anime fans both for having great series and awesome movie releases. In the anime chart, the new king of shounen genre “Boku no Hero Academia” continue on soaring high since its third season premiere on April. The second-half of its third season just started today and promises to keep everyone at the edge of their seat for the rest of summer 2018 season.

In movies, Fireworks and No Game No Life: Zero were released in Blu-ray and DVD in the first half of 2018 together with Mary and the Witch Flower, Full Metal Panic! Movie Series, Free! Take Your Marks, Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel I. Presage Flower, and Your Voice -KIMIKOE-. On the other hand, Bungou Stray Dogs: Dead Apple, Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 6: Our Future, and Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch III – Oudou were among the big shots that had its theatrical released on spring.

 

Now, as we enter to the second half of the year, we would like to emphasize and further introduced new anime movies due for release in the second-half of 2018. This includes those newly announced films and those anime movies with recent news of its release, new visuals or promotional videos.

It is no secret that majority of the anime community considered Boku no Hero Academia as one of the successor of the ‘big 3’ anime. Thus, the attention it gets recently is dominating and it definitely deserved all the praises as it is able to bring its genre into a new light while getting closer to the new generation of anime audiences.

‘My Two Heroes’ is scheduled for theatrical premiere on August 3, but first, it had been unveiled in Anime Expo 2018 on July 6. It is hinted according to some reviews that our heroes got some big new moves that may smash our expectations big time.

 

The finale of The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments may had ended as a cliffhanger. However, it won’t be too long before we see our favorite gang of treacherous yet absurdly fantastic knights. Our favorite sinners: Meliodas, Ban, Dianne, King, Gowther, Merlin, and Escanor is returning on August 18 promising an action-packed adventure against an unknown entity.

A new trailer for The Seven Deadly Sins: Prisoner of the Sky had been revealed on June 28.

Possibly, we’ll get some news about the potential season 3 of The Seven Deadly Sins.

K: Seven Stories Film Series

The series had concluded perfectly on 2015. However, a lingering fire still exist and burning anew to lit up our 2018 as the kings are returning to bring unknown stories of their journey into the surface. The trailers for the final three (3) films in the series had been revealed on July 2 as follows:

Mirai of the Future

Mamoru Hosoda is back together with a new anime film project on his back. Fans should expect for another emotional ride as it has been a signature of Hosoda’s film to bring both tears, mild drama and satisfying dosage of fun and entertainment in his movies. Mirai of the Future is scheduled for regular release on July 20.

Flavors of Youth (Shikioriori)

A rather nostalgic scene and emotions is what this upcoming anime film promise to the audience. Animation wise and visuals, it resembles Your Name., what can we expect since it is a join project of the studio behind the highest grossing anime film, Comix Waves Films, and the Chinese animation giant, Haoliners. Flavors of Youth premiered on July 7 during the Anime Expo 2018 while it will have its theatrical release on August 4.

Donten ni Warau Gaiden (Film Series)

Personally, I am really delighted when this was announced. I’d been a fan of the anime series and it is quite unfortunate that it didn’t get the attention that it deserves and became one of the most underrated anime in the past few years despite of how awesome it is.

Penguin Highway

A sci-fi fantasy anime movie that will once again engulf our imagination and will bring an exciting adventure to everyone. Penguin Highway will have its theatrical release on August 17.

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas

A drama anime movie that could be compared with Your Lie in April but takes the story on a different perspective. A new visual for the film had been revealed on June 9, 2018.

The film is set to hit the theaters on September 1.
