The Island of Siliang Season 2 / Juan Siliang to Continue the Conspiracy of the Gods

The search for the truth and the quest to escape the island will continue in The Island of Siliang Season 2 (Juan Siliang) which was announced by Tencent during their 2021 Conference last August 8. The series is currently airing and is about to reach the 1st season’s finale in 2 weeks which is scheduled to end on September 13, and many fans must be rejoicing knowing that Tu Li, Jing Xuan, and many of our favorite characters from The Island of Siliang are coming back albeit, they have to survive the remaining episodes of the 1st season yet.

Tencent had unveiled that The Island of Siliang Season 2 is part of their 2021-2022 Chinese anime lineup along with several returning sequels such as The King’s Avatar Season 3, Stellar Transformations Season 3 and 4, Martial Universe Season 3, and A Will Eternal Season 2 to name a few.

If we will look at The Island of Siliang right now, it seems that the 15-episode run of the 1st season will only be served as an introduction to the tale of the imprisoned gods. So far, the story had been revolving around the quest for vengeance and search for the truth by Jing Xuan, a flashback of Tu Li, the conspiracies that involved the death of Jing Xuan’s parents, the secrets that each family holds, the desires of the Xu and Cheng family, and the unfathomable mysteries that revolve around Fengmian and her real motive, and the arrival of the humans. I must say, it is currently doing decent world-building for the fans to delve into the story fully, and why the various characters act the way they did.

As the story further progresses, I believed we will have a major development in the story before the 1st season’s finale. Nevertheless, The Island of Siliang promises a lot, it is one of the most gorgeous donghua this 2021 and with pretty decent animation, and a unique story that gave us a break from the common cultivation cliche.

Animation Studio and Release Date

The announcement of The Island of Siliang Season 2 comes with concept art that features Jing Xuan as shown earlier above. While we don’t have details about its release date yet, we can expect it to premiere in 2022.

It will be produced by Year Young Culture and Tencent Penguin Pictures under the direction and supervision of Amy Zhao. I saw a lot of people are looking for The Island of Siliang novel, unfortunately, the series is an original work from Amy Zhao, and whether it’ll get a novel or manhua adaptation, that will depend on the success of the donghua. Nevertheless, we do hope it’ll do good as the story itself is already good and mind-boggling, the character designs and graphics are absolutely beautiful and on par with those animated films from China.
