Several months ago, I saw my mutual anibloggers on Twitter posted about their anime husbando list and I had said that I also need to share mine. My knock for a happy married life gets into my head that time then I realized I’m gay and furthermore, there’s no way I can marry an anime character. However, where’s the harm in listing your own list of anime husband?
That is why I ended up doing this post. It’s even funny because this is supposed to be an overdue list but I had a spare time today and got nothing substantial to post so listing about my anime husbando wouldn’t be a bad thing to do.
First, let’s take a look at the meaning of the term, HUSBANDO (Pronunciation: WHOSE-BAN-DOH):
A fandom slang that means A fictional male character from non-live-action visual media (typically an anime, manga, or video game) to whom one is attracted. [Source: Wiktionary]
To be honest, this has been nerve-wracking because I have tons of anime crushes whether their male or female characters, but I am gay so particularly I am attracted to male characters. Then, I only remembered the anime and the characters that come immediately to my mind but there are tons that I believed I can’t remember right away. I spend almost 20 minutes just thinking about them but I think I still missed plenty of them on this list.
Furthermore, I also raised the question: I have a crush on this character, but do I want to marry him? Then, the list was diminished even more until I have reached the list of 16 anime characters that I want to marry. Funny as it may sound but they’re from various anime series with different genres and they, themselves have different personalities. But once again, where’s the harm? I know I am an introvert but I think I am enjoying diversity any time. So, ladies and gentlemen, here are my anime husbando(s). ^^
My Anime Husbando
Touya Kinomoto (Cardcaptor Sakura)
First on my list is Touya Kinomoto, Sakura’s older brother from the classic Cardcaptor Sakura. Touya had been my crush ever since I was a child when I first watched the anime. Well, he’s just the perfect anime husbando I could ever ask for. He’s handsome, he’s tall, he’s good at household chores, he can be nasty, he had a rich personality, and yes, he was also in love with Yukito. Probably, one of my favorite bl anime couples ever.
Hatake Kakashi (Naruto)
Here’s another anime husbando that I first watched from an anime that means a whole lot to me. Kakashi-sensei from Naruto had been my favorite through all these years and he’s quite an interesting character. He had a clumsy and ordinary side, he can also crack hilarious jokes, he’s strong and smart, and he had that kind of mature appeal that simply turns me on.

Houtarou Oreki (Hyouka)
Oh, Oreki Houtarou is not just my favorite anime character because we share a lot of similarities but also because he’s someone I aspire to be always around with me. His presence is close to nothing but he is an interesting guy to have a good conversation with any time of the day. Oh, he could be my coffee-buddy too. As someone who consumed over 5 cups of coffee daily, I felt he can be my best friend too.
Yu Wenzhou (The King’s Avatar)
I am not letting this pass without including a Chinese anime character, first on this list is Yu Wenzhou from The King’s Avatar, my favorite team captain (my personal bias despite how much I love Ye Xiu). I think many captains from the alliance are husband-worthy such as Wang Jiexi, Xiao Shiqin, and Zhou Zekai. I would like Han Wenqing too but Yu Wenzhou is just way ahead of them all. Personality-wise, he’s the type of guy I want to have around with me. We have many similarities after all. Husband-material? Why not? You see how much he cares for his team, he is also among the well-mannered characters in the donghua, that’s a plus points for me.
Sinbad (Magi)
Sorry guys, Sinbad is just someone I’d love to have around in bed (j.k. but that’s a half-a$$ truth). He had that strong yet mysterious personality that drives people around him to go after him. He’s charismatic and hot. He’s strong and overwhelming, as a husband I think he is someone that can protect his family and they can rely on.
Izumi Miyamura (Horimiya)
What we have here next might be everyone’s ideal boyfriend from the Horimiya TV anime adaptation which had been gaining so much attention and praise from the winter 2021 anime lineup. Yeah, Miyamura-kun could be anyone’s boyfriend but why not upgrade it to make him an ideal husbando? He is quite awkward but he had the qualities that anyone would like to have for an ideal husband, isn’t he?

Jiang Yuduo (Antidote)
My favorite gangster is next on our list. There’s are many reasons why I love this donghua character, and he seems to embody almost every characteristic that I adore to a guy. He had that bad boy vibes yet deep inside he is a cinnamon roll. For more details about Antidote, you can check my post: Jie Yao (Antidote) Donghua Review
Tetsuki Takaoka (Kono Oto Tomare!)
To other people, he might just be the best supporting guy, but he is a man that everyone would like to have around as their husband. First of all, he is smart but he can be a bad boy too. Throughout the run of Kono Oto Tomare! I felt like he had the deus ex machina vibe whenever our main character Chika got in trouble.
Folken Lacour de Fanel (Vision of Escaflowne)
He might be quite the villainous strategist of the Zaibach Empire at first but Folken is my favorite character from the Vision of Escaflowne. He had the enigmatic personality that got me.
Tanaka Kou / Mabuchi Kou (Ao Haru Ride)
Everybody’s crush from Ao Haru Ride, Kou had been one of my earliest anime crushes when I started watching anime again several years ago. From his snobbish personality to his fragile state, Kou is a character that I can consider as a cinnamon roll whose smile must be protected. Who wouldn’t fell in love with his personality that gives us the other half of the purely romantic drama of Ao Haru Ride?
Hisoka (Hunter x Hunter)
No further comment. I’ll just leave this phrase here – “Choke me, Daddy!!!!!”

Adult Future Trunks (Dragon Ball series)
I had always been fascinated by the character of Trunks ever since I first watched him as his future self in the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball Z. Well, marrying Trunks is also another opportunity to have Vegeta as daddy, isn’t it? (pun intended) But yeah, Trunks is just one of my earliest anime crush and it will stay like that forever.
Wei Zhuang (Nine Songs of the Moving Heavens)
Oh, my favorite swordsman from The Legend of Qin is here but this time, I prefer his younger self and personality from Nine Songs of the Moving Heavens (the prequel series). He’s quite the antihero and tsundere type but he is reliable and still more heroic. He is overwhelming too.
Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
Here’s another swordsman in my list of anime husbando and that is someone you guys might be so familiar with, it is Zoro, the notorious Zoro from One Piece.
Kuroudo Akabane (Get Backers)
I think I really have some kind of bizarre attraction towards villainous characters and here, I have another creepy guy on my list. It is Dr. Jackal and I like him for that reason.
Hisagi Shuhei (Bleach)
Last on my list of anime husbando is Hisagi from Bleach. Oh, it’s my favorite shinigami and he had been one of the reasons why I keep on watching the anime even though I don’t like some of its shenanigans. He’s quite the fragile yet interesting character too.
