The Kings Avatar ships? Did this topic ever come across your mind guys? We all know that The King’s Avatar is an e-sports series that revolves more on the competitive arena of Glory and the in-game world but outside of those corners, there are people, the players who really have ambiguous relationships with each other but connected by Glory.
In my end, I have always wondered what if we take a closer look at the relationships of the characters from The King’s Avatar. Can we found tiny fragments of romance? What about some kind of affection? What I am pretty sure though is that The King’s Avatar has too much rivalry and may it be competitive or a friendly one, this kind of relationship had been pretty obvious in the story.
There are some friendly rivalries, great friendship, and acquaintances, or simply a matter of teamwork and trust that connects them but in the end, these were the relationships and interaction that gives color to the monotonous world of The King’s Avatar that revolves most of the time in the Glory in-game world, or in the professional arena.
In this post, I’ll share some of the characters that I ship from The Kings Avatar, and while some are pretty obvious, I will also make some assumptions on some of them because I felt like they make a pretty good pair. While I am sharing who am I shipping the most from the series, I am also excited to learn if there are other fans out there who ship the characters of The King’s Avatar in one way or another.
Alright, I will start this topic with obvious shipping of rivalry/friendship that we all did enjoy from the novel as follows:
Our Favorite Ship from The Kings Avatar
Ye Xiu and Han Wenqing

It’s the former captain of Excellent Era and the captain of Team Tyranny. They had been the greatest rivals in Glory’s professional scene for 10 years and even before the alliance started. One could easily tell that despite Han Wenqing cold demeanor, and Ye Xiu’s sarcasm lays a comradeship that lasts so long and they’re not just mere rivals. There’s the excitement that you could feel from both of them every time they meet in Glory or in the arena, and it only shows how much fun they had fought against each other.
Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng

Well, here’s an obvious ship from The King’s Avatar the fans will easily grab. While I could see a few romantic vibes here, once people find out their backstory, it won’t be easy to ship them anymore in a romantic way but instead, you’ll see that Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng could have that sibling’s relationship especially since Su Mucheng is the younger sister of Ye Xiu’s late best friend.
Nonetheless, I can’t help but sometimes get excited to them together especially those exchanged of dialogues from the anime, while both characters were brilliantly sparkling too in the live-action adaptation. So, I think I don’t mind shipping them in a romantic way.
Ye Xiu and Chen Guo

Is it just me, or is there someone else out there who ship Ye Xiu and our big boss? Yes, Chen Guo could be annoying but the live-action had shown us a fragile and cinnamon roll boss. However, Chen Guo is quite harsh in the novel than the live-action portrayal and that rudeness towards Ye Xiu in the earlier part of the story actually made me realize that they could be a good quarrelsome ship.
Ye Xiu and Su Muqiu
While the relationship of Ye Xiu and Su Muqiu wasn’t really focused in the novel aside from its prequel chapters, Ye Xiu and Su Muqiu’s friendship were highlighted in The King’s Avatar: For the Glory prequel movie, as well as in the live-action series which gave us a more emotional and sentimental portrayal of their relationship. In fact, the live-action made me cry, and I just can’t help but ship Ye Xiu to Su Muqiu and the thought that the present timeline could be even more amazing if Su Muqiu was still around.
Tang Rou and An Wenyi
Alright, we have here a ship that I only think could make a pretty good pair while there are no specific hints about it in the novel other than some interactions that I find interesting.
Yu Wenzhou and Huang Shaotian

We have one of the best team captains from The King’s Avatar here and his vice-captain, it’s the tactician and the ace from Blue Rain. While I am really impressed with the friendship and understanding between these two characters in the novel, my thoughts about them were even intensified after watching The King’s Avatar live-action series.
Han Wenqing and Zhang Xinjie
Here we have another captain and vice-captain relationship and they’re from Team Tyranny. I’ll say these two have quite the unique relationship and understanding knowing how firm and stubborn Han Wenqing is, and Zhang Xinjie is simply his direct opposite who is calm and logical. But they are able to make Team Tyranny sits atop Glory with their teamwork and that teamwork is backup with a strong trusting relationship and understanding.
Zhou Zekai x Jiang Botao
Another captain and vice-captain relationship and it’s Zhou Zekai and Jiang Botao from Team Samsara. It’s not just understanding but adjusting, while Zhou Zekai is our perfect introverted silent type in the series, Jiang Botao was able to build a rapport and trusting relationship with him which comes with better understanding and communication later on for their whole team. It’s more like Jiang Botao is the bridge between their captain and their team members.
Fang Rui x Lin Jingyan
Captain and vice-captain relationships must be always an intricate relationship right, except for Ye Xiu and Fei Hao. In this case, we have the former captain and vice-captain of Team Wind Howl here. They comprised the Criminal Combination in the whole Glory Alliance, and it’s amazing that although they are not in the same team anymore, there’s still a mutual understanding between them.
Zhang Jialie x Sun Zheping
Former members of Team Hundred Blossoms are next in our list. The former duo that made up the insurmountable Blood & Blossoms had a complicated yet trusting relationship. It has always been a mutual one especially when they are at the top of their game.
Ye Xiu and Blue River
And here’s a ship from The King’s Avatar that I will gladly take any time of the day. Ye Xiu as Lord Grim simply brought so many troubles to Blue River which made the latter one of my cinnamon rolls. It’s always funny when these two will have an encounter, and it’s adorable how clueless Blue River is on so many occasions and how Ye Xiu threw him off of his own game several times. In the end, you’ll see what kind of a character does Blue River has, and it’s quite an interesting one.
Alright, I will finish my discussion here about The Kings Avatar various ships that caught my attention. I am also excited to know what are your favorite ships or who do you ship the most from The King’s Avatar. Please let us know by sharing your thoughts below in the comment section and see if our thoughts about them align in one way or another. In fact, I still have plenty of minor ships from the story that I might want to add but it seems like it doesn’t have any significant value compared to what I have already listed above.

I'm guessing these are the author's personal preferences in pairings, but I can't see 'Tang Rou x An Wenyi' at all. But I know the rules of shipping – no rules! lol 'Han Wenqing x Ye Xiu' is your usual rivals to lovers trope I see often, usual material is shounen manga/anime. All captains + vice captains pairings exploit this hierarchical system in relationships when one is in power (same as boss+secretary tropes) 'Ye Xiu x Su Muqiu' is a popular ship in chinese fandom, but not for my taste. 'Ye Xiu x Blue River' – I rather feel bad for Blue River (his eternal suffering haha)I used to \”ship\” Tang Rou and Wang Jiexi but somehow Tang Rou's character was too cold and stubborn (?) that I lost interest later as I progressed with the novel. So my lasting \”ship\” is 'Chen Guo x Ye Xiu' because someone needs to call out Ye Xiu's shameless behaviour, the ship could be described as an 'old married couple'. But let's not forget the only official romance in the novel – Du Ming's one sided crush on Tang Rou. It's amusing:)
I love the ships you can make out of the TKA fandom. I have to admit I like most of the ships, but LanYe has got to be my absolute favorite. Xu Boyuan and Ye Xiu have such a cute dynamic :). I can see them as that low key background relationship with some people wondering if they are together or not haha.
