YOUKU has secured the Chinese anime adaptation of Magic Chef of Ice and Fire, an action-adventure and fantasy story adapted from a novel written by Tang Jia San Shao, who is known as the author of Soul Land and one of China’s most popular and top-earning online novelist.
Amidst the upcoming Magic Chef of Ice and Fire donghua release this November, let’s take a look at it and have a glance at what Chinese anime fans should watch out for it including its story, release date, and production committee.
Magic Chef of Ice and Fire Donghua Adaptation
At the latest conference of Chinese video hosting site YOUKU last October 21, unveiled their Chinese anime lineup for 2022 which also featured some titles that already premiered in 2021. One of the bigger names in the list is Magic Chef of Ice and Fire on which the author himself, Tang Jia San Shao is present during the announcement.
Overview
Bing Huo Mo Chu is the official Chinese title of the donghua with the English title of The Magic Chef of Fire and Ice, just like its official name on the novel. The donghua is adapting the 2006 novel by Tang Jia San Shao which run for a total of 256 chapters until 2007, and was originally published by Qidian.
The novel is known for sharing a universe with the other works of the author such as Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Child of Light, Soul Land, Unrivaled Tang Sect, Heavenly Jewel Change, Jiu Shen, The Legend of the Dragon King, Zither Emperor, Douluo Dalu: Legend of the Divine Realm, Space Speed Xing Hen, Ultimate Fighting. The Magic Chef of Fire and Ice actually receives a Chinese manhua adaptation too in 2016 and was published in Tencent Comics.
The story of the upcoming donghua follows a familiar plot with many fantasy series that we had out there today, however, we’ll have some cooking show as a plot device here. Now, that actually reminds me of the Food System as support on Soul Land, and the other profession that some xinxia and xuanhuan MC had to take along with their cultivation journey such as Xiao Yan’s becoming an alchemist in Battle Through The Heavens, and Lin Dong as a Symbol Master in Martial Universe.
To get a better glimpse, The Magic of Fire and Ice story is described as follows:
Synopsis
Nian Bing is the son of a fire mage and an ice mage. After both of his parents were killed by the Ice Lord, Nian Bing received both of his parents’ magic gems. When Nian Bing was trying to escape from the Ice Lord’s followers, he managed to cast both fire and ice magic at the same time. An impossible feat for a mage. He fell from the cliff, unconscious, and was saved by an old man. After he woke up, the old man gave him a food so delicious he never tasted before. It turned out that the old man was a genius chef, once called a spirit chef. And he wants Nian Bing to be his disciple no matter what! Is Nian Bing able to seek vengeance while aiming to become the greatest chef?
