Review: Top 10 Anime of Spring 2019 Lineup - Week No. 2

Carole & Tuesday Guerrilla Performance
Carole & Tuesday Guerrilla Performance

Hey guys, we had enter the 2nd week of spring 2019 anime lineup and we finally see some precious gems unveiling itself. This week had been a fascinating one with so much drama, action, and more. Our list from week 1 had changed a bit but it’s almost exactly the same. So, let’s talk about which anime shows this season excel in the 2nd week of spring 2019 lineup and we may find some interesting title that may suit your taste.

Top 10 Anime of Spring 2019 Week 2

Not much changes had occur aside from minimal changes on our chart with Midnight Occult Civil Servants been replaced by Cinderella Nine which I believed to be spring 2019's best sports anime. We also got a new anime sitting on the top spot and it's no other than the singing duo Carole & Tuesday. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Fruits Basket 2019 remake were quite consistent and stable in the chart while Kono Oto Tomare! Sounds of Life had been overthrown from the top spot and dropped to 5th place this week. Nonetheless, it still feels great to see Hozoki finally entering the story.

For some news this week, we should enjoy as Demon Slayer had been announced to get a total of 26 episodes run. Well, isn't this news enticing and exciting for the viewers and it feels like we will get enough time to delve deeper into its story and world-setting.

Nonetheless, let's start the list of Top 10 Anime Shows from Spring 2019 lineup as follows:

Carole and Tuesday Episode 2 "Born to Run"

Carole and Tuesday Episode 2
Roddy taking the video of Carole & Tuesday performance
First in our list is Carole and Tuesday. Seriously, it only took a magical and musical scene to turn me on and have this anime forced its way to the top this week. Yes, that guerrilla performance by Carole and Tuesday on stage where so precious, heartfelt, magical and mesmerizing. Honestly, speak it’s just not Roddy who got himself shock and awe with our girl duo’s singing but the viewers as well, and I am one of them. One thing that made me liked Carole and Tuesday even more is the scenes where they always run after some kind of trouble. It somehow conveyed a positive and energetic vibes that take the stress away and made me look at life with positivity and enthusiasm.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 2 "Trainer Sakonji Urokodaki"

Demon Slayer Episode 2
Nezuko assaulting a demon
Ufotable never fail to give us quality animation and amazing visually aesthetic experience. And such is the case with their new anime project Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. This is a pretty consistent anime when it comes to animation quality and the visuals. The sounds is also haunting and most of all, the drama is on point. I really love the voice actor behind the character of Tanjirou (Natsuki Hanae) and I am seriously delighted to found out that it’s the same person that gave us the voice for Arima Kousei (Your Lie in April), and Ken Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul) which I think justifies how intense the drama in every words that Tanjirou pronounced. I think these were only some of the reasons why Demon Slayer is among the must-watch anime of spring 2019 chart.

Fruits Basket (2019) Episode 2 "They're All Animals!"

Fruits Basket (2019) Episode 2
Kyou befriending Tohru
This heartwarming and heartfelt story of Honda Tohru and the Soma guys really melt my heart and I couldn’t simply ignore how enthralling it is in so many aspects. The music is so touching and heart penetrating while the characters were lovable and relatable. I really love and appreciate that we finally get a glimpse on Kyo’s background story although it is very minimal and how he and Tohru were similar in few aspects.

Bungou Stray Dogs III Episode 2 "The God of Fire"

Bungou Stray Dogs 3 Episode 2
Dazai prepares for a killing intent
In Bungou Stray Dogs Season 3 Episode 2, we’re still on a flashback journey with Dazai and Chuuya as our main characters, and it is truly amazing to see their teamwork when they’re still part of the Port Mafia. There had been some pretty decent animation sequence that actually caught me breathless. Yes, when Chuya makes a move, one should expect for something magnificent to happen while I am really delighted to witness a little darker side of Dazai. However, there’s still a lot of conspiracies going on in the story which is quite confusing but somehow tolerable especially with the fact that we are still on the 2nd week of the season.

Kono Oto Tomare! Episode 2 "Having What It Takes"

Kono Oto Tomare! Episode 2
Hozoki and Chika's first encounter
Alright, in our 5th place is Kono Oto Tomare! which had been our no. 1 last week. I’ll say the quality is there, it’s actually very consistent and the story is really amazing as usual with the entrance of our main female character in the story. However, I still think that it is quite a lackluster and could give us something more. Though, it seems that the anime had still too many surprises to give us and I am truly amazed with how promising the story is. Now, I just want to delve deeper into Hozoki’s background. I am also moved by Chika’s determination and the backstory of his friends. I really felt that they’re all special in their own ways.

One Punch Man 2 Episode 2 "The Human Monster"

One Punch Man 2 Episode 2
Genos vs Sonic
Saitama’s encounter with Blizzard and the jaw-dropping fight scenes of Genos and Sonic. That was one hell of an amazing animation sequence. Finally, we get a glimpse at this season’s main bad guy – Garou. I seriously hate him just like the way I hated him when he was first introduced in the manga. Nonetheless, he is quite the O.P. character but quite not convincing. Nonetheless, he is still an interesting character to follow especially when he goes hero hunting as the story progress. In fact, I saw some memes online comparing Garou as the Hero Hunter to Stain – the Hero Killer from My Hero Academia. There are actually similarities among them but I think the time is not ripe yet to compare them especially that we know about Stain’s background deeper than Garou. Nonetheless, One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 2 finally introduced the main villain which means that story had been set into motion and we shall see some more progress in the next few weeks.

Magmel of the Sea Blue Episode 2

Magmel of the Sea Blue Episode 2
Inyou acting like a gentleman and a savior
The second episode of Magmel of the Sea Blue is quite interesting and I am somehow pissed off with some of its minor characters. Anyway, I am really excited to learn more about Inyou and how overwhelming his power is. He is quite an interesting guy and he really reminds me of those OP anime characters but were staying low profile just like TatsuyaShiba and even Saitama. It seems that there’s more to Magmel than just its shady plot of exploiting an unknown continent. In fact, I thought that its theme is more human, it shows about human morality and point out a certain view showing that sometimes humanity becomes evil in pursue of further knowledge and development.

Magi’s Grandson Episode 2 "The Unconventional New Student"

Magi's Grandson Episode 2
Never offend the prince' friend ^^
Shin finally arrived in his school and meet up with few people who’ll be part of his journey. Furthermore, he simply revealed another awesome part of him which makes him an overwhelming character this season. I dare say this again, he’s like Rimuru Tempest (which makes me excited for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2nd season on 2020) at some occasion simply proving how OP he is and still runs with it nonchalantly. One thing is that, he’s quite the normal guy I think especially when he shows affection toward girls. He’s also not the typical main character that people have the freedom to bully because he is not taking any sh*t at all from any bad guys. I really enjoyed how he and the crown prince gets along like brothers.

Fairy Gone Episode 2 "Wolf Collar and Swan Feathers"

Fairy Gone Episode 2
Marlya's fairy

We’d been treated to some amazing animation sequence and fight scenes this week with Fairy Gone 2nd episode. Though, we’re still caught in the middle of confusing thoughts if we were to look at Fairy Gone’s current progress in general. The story looks dull and slow but I still have high hopes for it. Nonetheless, the quality of animation is top notch and it seems that the character development is being built slowly but perfectly.

Cinderella Nine Episode 2 "Can or Can't"

Cinderella Nine Episode 2
The girls finally found a practice place

We had to bid farewell to Midnight Occult Civil Servants in our Top 10 this week as the best sports anime of the season stole its spot. Yes, Cinderella Nine is pretty entertaining to follow and I could feel its ambiance in every moment. The drama, action, fun, and bonds among these female characters were simply adorable and inspiring at the same time. I am not really into sports anime but I have high hopes for this anime and hoping that it’ll be an amazing show to follow as the season’s progress.

Episode of Sarazanmai, Midnight Occult Civil Servants, Bokuben and Hitori Bocchi
Honorable Mentions: Sarazanmai, Midnight Occult Civil Servants, Bokuben and Hitori Bocchi

Meanwhile, among my honorable mentions this week were We Never Learn: Bokuben (personally I think it’s the funniest anime of the season). Hitori Bocchi is also a fun one on which I could relate myself with Bocchi (that’s from another introvert’s perspective). I also get myself delve deeper into Sarazanmai and find it quite entertaining despite of how bizarre it is. Midnight Occult Civil Servants is also fun but I think I’ll need more episodes to finally have its plot sink into my system.

So, that ends our list of top 10 anime from spring 2019 lineup week 2 and let’s all prepare for the 3rd week of the season and found out which anime shall enter the Top 10.
