The science fiction novel by Hase Satoshi and illustrated by redjuice is getting an anime adaptation this coming January 2018. BEATLESS, an interesting story that revolves the intriguing relationship between humans and humanoids will commence to haunt us in the winter of 2018 with a promise of a non-stop exciting adventure.


The world is in the hands of humanoids who are called hIE as they operate most parts of the society. One day, a seventeen-year-old young man named Endou Arato meets an android that goes with the name Lecia, and he signed the contract to be her owner. Lecia looks exactly like a human but possesses an extremely powerful intellect. It is one of the five humanoids with intelligence surpassing that of human beings. Each of the five humanoids has their own reasons to fight each other, in order to acquire their opponent’s ability. The human adults could only look on as they fight. Meanwhile, the human youths are trying to approach and forge bonds with those humanoids. The route to future lies in the relationship between humans and humanoids. What attachments would those advanced robots have to the humans? In the era where convenience prevails, humans have no idea what is truly important in this world, and it’s precisely in this environment when Arato meets Lecia, who display far greater kindness than humans. How would this affect the future of humanity?

The novel is serialized in Monthly Newtype (KADOKAWA). BEATLESS anime will be directed by Mizushima Seiji. He’ll be a major participant in the anime’s production team together with Takahashi Tatsuya and Zappa Gou who are working on the series composition while the character designs will be provided by Yaguchi Hiroko.

Just a sort of little background of the people behind BEATLESS novel is that the author Hase Satoshi also written the popular Metal Gear series and the masterpiece My Humanity which had won the 35th Japanese Science Fiction Awards. Meanwhile, illustrator redjuice previously worked as part of the team that provided the character designs for Shisha no Teikoku (The Empire of Corpses), Harmony and Gyakusatsu Kikan (Genocidal Organ) film trilogy.

Code name: Yu Alexius is an ambiguous entity who loves to talk about anime and Chinese animation in general. An insatiable soul from the Pearl of the Orient, a frustrated writer and a Houtarou Oreki wanna-be. He is a piece of a lunatic and everything crazy.
