It was announced last Friday – November 27, 2015 that the 2nd film of Ajin film trilogy titled Ajin -Shōtotsu- (Ajin – Demi-Human: Collision) will open on May 2016. The film trilogy is an anime adaptation of Gamon Sakurai’s Ajin: Demi-Human manga series. In addition, the official website of the film also revealed that Jun Fukuyama joins the cast of the show and he will play the character of the boy Kō Nakano.
The first film of the trilogy, Ajin: Shōdō (Ajin: Demi-Human – Compel) opened in Japanese theaters last Friday and it held its world premiere in Tokyo International Film Festival last October 28.
In the manga’s story, an immortal first appeared on an African battlefield 17 years ago. Later, rare, unknown new immortal lifeforms began appearing among humans, and they became known as “Ajin” (demi-humans). Just before summer vacation, a Japanese high school student named Kei Nagai is instantly killed in a traffic accident on his way home from school. However, he is revived, and a price is placed on his head. Thus begins a boy’s life on the run from all of humankind.
Aside from the film trilogy, the manga series also inspired a TV anime adaptation which will premiere on January on several TV stations such as MBS, TBS, and CBC. Ajin TV series will go deeper in the story and it will provide precise information about the story’s world.
The film is directed by Hiroaki Ando at POLYGON PICTURES with Hiroyuki Seshita serving as the chief director. Supervising the film’s script is Hiroshi Seko, Yuugo Kanno is composing the music, while designing the characters is Yuki Moriyama.
