There’s something truly magical about receiving a Sakuraco box. It’s not just a collection of delicious snacks; it’s a carefully curated journey into the heart of Japanese culture, delivered right to your doorstep. And let me tell you, their July 2025 “Mt. Fuji Summertime Box” was an absolute delight! This box perfectly captured the essence of a Japanese summer, with a special homage to the iconic Mt. Fuji, and it filled my home with so much joy.
What I adore most about Sakuraco is their commitment to showcasing Japan’s local businesses and rich traditions. Their detailed catalog, or as I like to call it, the “snack guide,” is a treasure in itself. It’s not just about listing ingredients; it delves into the fascinating stories behind the snacks, the local businesses that craft them, common allergens, and even the history of the regions and factories. It’s an intimate narrative that truly connects you to the heart of Japan, and this box’s guide was no exception, giving us insights into tea culture, Doi Confectionery’s history, the charming story of La Maree de Chaya, and general fascinating facts about Mt. Fuji.

Now, let’s talk about the stars of the show – the snacks!
My absolute top favorite from this box was the Matcha Friand from La Maree de Chaya in Kanagawa. Oh my goodness, this moist friand was pure perfection. Made with premium matcha from Uji, Kyoto, every bite was a soft, subtly sweet, and wonderfully earthy experience. It was a true moment of bliss!

Another much-loved inclusion was the Amaou Strawberry Dorayaki from Ichie. As a massive fan of dorayaki, my eyes always light up when I spot one in a Sakuraco box. This time, the two fluffy castella pancakes cradled a divine white bean paste, beautifully blended with sweet-tart Amaou strawberries. It was a perfect harmony of flavors and textures.

And who could resist the charming Mt. Fuji Biscuit by Doi Confectionery? Shaped just like Japan’s majestic peak, these lightly sweet cookies, layered with smooth milk cream, were almost too pretty to eat – almost! Doi Confectionery, based in Shizuoka, truly shone in this box, and their quality always impresses.

A Sakuraco box simply isn’t complete without a comforting tea, and the Matcha Genmaicha from Hagiri was a fantastic choice for summer. Crafted from high-quality Shizuoka sencha, Hokkaido brown rice, and Shizuoka matcha, it offered a wonderfully balanced and aromatic brew that was both refreshing and soothing.

For those satisfying crisps, the box delivered in spades! The Ako Salt Agemochi from Kuriyama, Nori Wasabi Arare from Morihaku Confectionery, and Sakura Shrimp Kakimochi from Iwatsuka Confectionery all brought their A-game. Each one was perfectly crunchy and truly highlighted the distinct, delicious flavors of Japan.

The Shizuoka Green Tea Cookie by Doi Confectionery was another favorite of mine, elegantly showcasing the renowned green tea from Shizuoka in a delightful leaf-shaped cookie dough. It was simple, yet incredibly flavorful.

The Chocolate and Plain Crown Melon Wafers by Nagatoya added a lovely diversity to the box, offering a lighter, crispy treat with a hint of fruit.

Of course, with a “Mt. Fuji” box, more Fuji-inspired treats were a must! The Mt. Fuji Kohakuto from Japan House and the Mt. Fuji Jelly from Yamafuji both offered delightful and visually appealing experiences. The Kohakuto with its delicate sugar crust and soft interior, and the jelly providing a refreshing, smooth sensation.

For another satisfying crunch, the Mt. Fuji Chocolate Crunch from Doi Confectionery was a hit. Featuring domestically cultivated corn from Hokkaido, it came in both milk and white chocolate flavors – a perfect sweet and crunchy bite.

And for a refreshing treat, especially perfect for the hot summer weather, the Muscat Konjac Jelly from Shimonita Bussan in Gunma was a welcome addition. It’s an amazing, low-calorie option that’s perfect for those who are health-conscious but still want a burst of fruity flavor.
Finally, the box wasn’t just about edible delights. It also included a beautiful Mt. Fuji Dish, featuring the iconic ukiyo-e by Hokusai – “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” It’s a lovely keepsake that adds to the overall cultural experience of the box.

Doi Confectionery and the wonderful snacks from Shizuoka were heavily featured in this box, and honestly, I couldn’t be happier! It’s fantastic to see Sakuraco highlighting specific regions and businesses, giving us a deeper appreciation for their craft.
The Mt. Fuji Summertime Box was a truly delightful experience from start to finish. It’s more than just snacks; it’s an invitation to explore and appreciate the incredible culture and craftsmanship of Japan. Thank you, Sakuraco, for another incredible journey!
