Wow, can you believe the Summer 2025 anime lineup is officially here? We’re already about four episodes deep into the season, and let me tell you, it’s shaping up to be an absolutely fantastic time to be an anime fan. I’ve been diligently keeping up with as many new releases as possible, and I’m thrilled to share my current top 10 anime of Summer 2025 that have truly grabbed my attention. This season is packed with potential, and I’ve got a strong feeling some of these are going to be contenders for best anime of 2025 overall!
My Initial Top 10 Anime Picks for Summer 2025
Let’s dive into what’s been dominating my watch list:
First off, let’s talk about the two that are already making waves and hinting at “potential anime of the year.” The Summer Hikaru Died is hitting all the right notes for me. Its eerie atmosphere combined with compelling character dynamics has me absolutely hooked. Every episode leaves me wanting more, and I can already tell this one is going to be a masterpiece if it keeps this pace. Similarly, Takopi’s Original Sin has been nothing short of a gut punch in the best possible way. It’s dark, it’s thought-provoking, and it pulls no punches. If you’re looking for something that will make you feel, this is it.
Shifting gears slightly, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity is an absolute gem. It’s got such a wholesome and charming vibe that makes it a perfect watch after something a bit heavier. The characters are genuinely endearing, and I’m really enjoying the low-key, heartwarming story. Then we have Secrets of the Silent Witch, which is delivering on all fronts for a magical fantasy. The world-building is intriguing, and I’m enjoying unraveling the mysteries alongside the protagonist.
Now, for something a bit different but equally exciting: Lord of the Mysteries. While it’s a donghua, its production quality is absolutely staggering. I’ve been following the source material, and seeing it brought to life with this level of detail makes me believe it could genuinely be the best donghua of 2025 in production wise? It’s grand, complex, and utterly captivating.
On the action front, Gachiakuta has been a visual spectacle. Team Akuta’s action visuals look so cool, and Satoshi Ishino seriously did an incredible job with the character designs. The fight choreography is top-notch, and the world feels uniquely gritty and alive. And of course, the return of our favorite ex-hitman, Sakamoto Days Part 2, is everything I hoped for. It’s picking up right where the first season left off with its signature blend of chaotic action and laugh-out-loud comedy.
Finally, to round out my initial best summer 2025 anime picks, we have some fantastic variety. Clevatess has been a pleasant surprise, offering a compelling narrative that’s quickly pulling me in. It’s got that spark that makes you want to binge just one more episode. And who isn’t excited for more giant monster mayhem? Kaiju no. 8 Season 2 has been a thrill ride, continuing to build on the foundations of its exciting predecessor with more epic battles and character development. Last but not least, for those moments when you just want to unwind, The Water Magician (relaxing isekai) is pure comfort food. It’s exactly what it says on the tin—a soothing escape into a magical world.
This summer 2025 anime lineup is already delivering, and I can’t wait to see how these stories unfold over the coming weeks. What have you been watching? Any surprises on your own top anime of Summer 2025 list? Let’s chat in the comments!
