Cheerful and friendly female characters often become quickly popular among anime and manga fans. But not all waifus are sweet and fragile. Other fantastic ladies in anime don’t meet those standards but deserve as much love.
Some are tough, mean, and so intimidating they could make a big guy cry with just a glare.
These are the characters I’d like to discuss in this article, especially the ones that are great partners to have a drink with due to their incredibly high tolerance to alcohol!
10 Waifus Who Can Handle Their Liquor
One of the perks of an anime subscription box where subscribers vote for their favorite waifus is that you get to know various female characters and excellent new shows to watch. It helped me come up with this list, and it can help you find anime girls, too — be it for reference, inspiration, to discover new anime, or simply because there’s never too much waifus to love.
Revy (Black Lagoon)
Rebecca Lee, better known as Revy, is a Chinese-American tough lady in her mid to late twenties.
Revy is a rude, sarcastic, competitive woman who also exhibits a short-tempered, aggressive temperament. She’s ruthless, sadistic, and more than capable of taking lives, even unarmed civilians!
Leone (Akame Ga Kill)
Leone is one of the older members of the assassination group, Night Raid. She excels at gathering information and is often the one who confirms targets the group needs to eliminate.
She’s a young woman with short blonde hair and golden eyes. Her personality is relaxed and cheerful. She may lack some manners and be somewhat naughty, but she plays the big sister figure to younger members.
Despite her flaws, though, Leone doesn’t tolerate injustice and gets especially violent towards people capable of doing the most horrible actions.
Ryoko Hakubi (Tenchi Muyo!)
Ryoko is a semi-reformed space pirate whose personality and background change slightly across different stories within the Tenchi Muyo franchise. Some traits she always keeps are aggressiveness and intensity.
She is one of the most powerful beings in the universe. She is so powerful she doesn’t need to eat, yet enjoys drinking and can become drunk like humans. However, her powers can nullify the effects of alcohol.
Holo (Wolf and Spice)
Holo is a wolf spirit that lives in the wheat. Her true form is a giant wolf, but she can also assume the form of a charming human girl. She lived as a village’s wheat goddess before escaping on the cart of a merchant named Kraft Lawrence.
She is intelligent, confident, good-humored, and talkative… but can also be flirtatious and manipulative.
Shura Kirigakure (Blue Exorcist)
Shura Kirigakure is an Upper-First class Exorcist who works as an Inspector for the Vatican.
She is very laid-back and blunt — not afraid to talk about sensitive topics or point out others’ flaws, even with her superiors. And while she would rather drink and let others do the work, she stays serious and focused when needed.
Vanessa Enoteca (Black Clover)
Vanessa Enoteca is a tall young witch with wavy mid-back-length pink hair, purple eyes, full lips, and an incredible body, which she loves to expose. She wears only a pair of red lingerie!
Vanessa is a person who does things at her own pace and is a great fan of alcoholic drinks and handsome men. Aside from her lustful attitude, she’s a very caring person.
Melissa Mao (Full Metal Panic)
With short dark hair and beautiful purple eyes, Melissa Mao is a Chinese-American private military contractor, a former Marine, and a great pilot.
But she’s also a hefty drinker and ruthless insulter, acting rudely and using heavy language, especially when irritated.
Margery Daw (Shakugan no Shana)
Margery Daw is a tall, busty, attractive woman with a drinking habit. Her appearance is that of a woman over 20 years old, with long, straight blond hair and blue eyes. She is cold and ruthless, moved by deep hatred and a strong desire for revenge.
She is so violent and abusive that her actions lead to the nickname “Murderer”!
Nonko Arahabaki (Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs)
Nonko is a voluptuous youkai woman. She has an easy-going and carefree personality but is very committed when drawing manga!
In her human form, she has long, messy pink hair, pale skin, green eyes, and a mark on her forehead. But since she’s a mystical being, her appearance can be somewhat different in her Oni form. Her skin becomes reddish, and her hair white. The mark on her forehead grows into a large horn!
Chain Sumeragi (Blood Blockade Battlefront)
Chain Sumeragi is one of the female anime characters with the highest tolerance to alcohol I’ve ever seen in anime!
She has short black hair and dark purple eyes. She’s a bit of a sadist and often causes physical harm to others. However, despite not demonstrating or being open about it, she cares for her friends and is very protective of them.
