The Fall 2023 donghua season officially started this October, or should I say from the last week of September on which several new shows and returning sequels already premiered such as Renegade Immortal, Martial God Asura, Against the Gods (3D), and many more. However, the exciting news did not stop there as October also promises to unleash new donghua that will make us all go mad and addicted.
Chinese Anime Schedule: The October 2023 Donghua Releases
Without further ado, let’s dive straight into our list of Chinese anime scheduled for October 2023 as Tencent, Bilibili, Youku, and iQIYI feature a new batch of donghua for the last quarter of the year.
Transcending the Nine Heavens
Let me start our list with probably one of my most anticipated Chinese cultivation donghua in the list – Transcending the Nine Heavens from Bilibili, China Literature, and Foch. Also known as Aoshi Jiu Chong Tian, this new donghua is adapted from a xinxia novel by Feng Ling Tianxia.
If you’re a fan of donghua such as Tales of Demons and Gods, Battle Through The Heavens, Martial Universe, and Spirit Sword Sovereign, you’ll definitely love to watch this new show. Transcending the Nine Heavens is slated for release on October 1, 2023.
Perfect World Season 4
Wanmei Shijie, one of the most popular cultivation donghua right now is coming back for its 4th season. Perfect World Season 4 will start on October 6, and it will air continuously as the 3rd season ended a week prior to it. Now, this donghua has been ranked in the same league as Soul Land and Battle Through The Heavens, among Tencent’s most-watched and highly followed shows. Furthermore, this is another donghua from studio Foch.
Thirty Six Riders
Also known as 36 Ji, or Thirty Six Calvary, this action and drama donghua is a production from Youku and is one of the most anticipated ones this month. It is adapted from a novel and features another period-drama story that will captivate us all with its historical antics and promising animation from studio CG Year. Thirty-six Riders is set for release on October 9.
The Little Master’s Better Life
Here comes a rather hilarious yet exciting fantasy donghua from Bilibili and I’ve been meaning to watch this since I first learned about it last year. The Little Master’s Better Life is adapted from a web novel by Yan Gui Zheng Zhuan. Also known in Chinese as Zhengjing Shao Zhu De Xingfu Shenghuo, this is another donghua from Foch studio, hence, we may expect the same animation quality as Full-Time Magister. The Little Master’s Better Life is scheduled to air on October 22, 2023.
Spiritsin Chinese Brushes
Qi Hou Biliu | Here is another Chinese anime airing this October 2023 that I am quite excited to watch on Bilibili. It actually reminds me of The Buried Tree Devil (Daomu Biji: Qinling Shen Shu), and The Outcast. What’s even more amazing is that it’ll be another dive into the Chinese folklore and urban fantasy with the same animation quality as Rakshasa Street as L2 Studio is also handling its production.
The donghua is adapted from a novel by Boyong Ma. Spiritsin Chinese Brushes is scheduled for release on October 28, 2023.
Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2
We’ve been waiting for this for almost 3 years, now, it was hinted that Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 might be released this October 2023. However, speculation also said that it may not be released in China but instead overseas. One thing we are sure of is that Xie Lian and Hua Cheng’s story will continue to captivate us all and will enthrall us deep into its realm filled with god’s conspiracy and more. Heaven Official’s Blessing was among my top Chinese anime of 2020 and it was adapted from a Chinese web novel of the same title by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, the author behind the Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation.
South Korean animation studio Red Dog Culture House also returned as its production team, and it seems that Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 is slated for release on October 17, 2023.
Great Journey of Teenagers Season 3
Adapted from Zhou Munan’s wuxia novel Song of Adolescence, the Shaonian Gexing Season 3 is finally here and it is slated for release on October 25. This series is a combined project of Bilibili and Youku and will continue where the previous season left us off, bringing anew more action, fights, and youthful adventure from our young heroes.
