After almost 2 years in hiatus, Fox Spirit Matchmaker (Huyao Xiao Hongniang), one of China’s most beloved Chinese animation (donghua) is coming back for its 11th season and everybody is simply excited to see it once again as it promises to deliver more drama, romance, humor, and supernatural antics that transcends time.
So, before the release of Fox Spirit Matchmaker Season 11 on June 24, 2023. Let’s go and take a look at its entirety first because I believe many donghua fans may have been confused about its running order because, unlike other shows, it does not follow the standard titles of putting the season’s number at its title. For example, its 11th season is formally called Huyao Xiao Hongniang: Wu Mu, hence, it can get confusing, especially to new viewers of Fox Spirit Matchmaker.

In Eastern History, humans and spirits exist in this world. Fox spirits have long acted as matchmakers, holding a prestigious position among spirits. In this story, the lives of a fox spirit and a man who have both rejected the idea of true love become intertwined, and their exciting adventure begins.
The donghua was first adapted in 2016 and was released as one of the flagship shows animated by the Haoliners Animation Group. It was also released in Japan under the title Enmusubi no Youku-chan in 2017.
