After all, it boosts an amazing animation quality that feels like giving even the best of Japanese anime a run for their money.

About Biao Ren: Blades of the Guardians
I’ve mentioned this a lot of times, Blades of the Guardians had been adapted from a manga called Biao Ren by Xu Xian Zhe and it is also known by other titles such as Dart Man, Dart People, Hyoujin, or simply Blades of the Guardians.

Aside from its interesting story, Biao Ren is widely recognized for having visually aesthetic manga panels which proves that the author has exerted so much effort and energy into making this series.
Synopsis
‘”Escorts” are warriors paid to take out the targets wanted by the government. Dao Ma is one traveling warrior trying to repay the debt he owes to a man named Mo, who took care of Dao Ma and his child, Xiao Qi. But on the way back to Mo’s town, they encounter a victim of the “rakshasa”—man-eating demons. Between the rise of rakshasa victims, bloodshed, slavery, and ruthless warriors, Dao Ma becomes caught up in the terror sweeping through the country during the last years of the Sui dynasty.
The Chinese animation is the latest production from Colored Pencil Animation, in collaboration with its Japanese partners at Colored Pencil Animation Japan. If the studio may sound familiar to you, it is because Colored Pencil Animation is the studio behind The King’s Avatar Season 2, The King’s Avatar Prequel Film: For the Glory, and the 2021 sci-fi donghua Fantasy x Hunter.

Blades of the Guardians is only one of the upcoming releases from Colored Pencil Animation, the other shows that we should look forward from them are The King’s Avatar Season 3, Warm Sun (SAYE), and Silent House (Ya She).
I’ve previously mentioned that Blades of the Guardians’ delay in production must have been due to many reasons which may include censorship (since the donghua is contained violent scenes), lack of manpower in the production team because the studio had been hiring animators, and staffs all these past few years.

Nonetheless, the major announcement had been already revealed, and all fans can only get excited and look forward to Blades of the Guardians’ release on June 1.
If you’re wondering where you can watch the series upon its release, Biao Ren will be streamed on its official channel on Tencent Video. Meanwhile, you may also check various anime and donghua websites such as Mundo donghua, myanimelive, or gogoanime. Furthermore, you should also check several community pages on Reddit for Chinese animation as they offer fresh takes and opinions from our fellow donghua fans.
For fans of anime and manga like Berserk, Vagabond, Vinland Saga, and Blades of the Immortal; this new donghua is a must-watch as it follows on the same wavelength and footsteps in many aspects as those shows that I’ve mentioned earlier.
