The Daily Life of the Immortal King had been one of the most popular and well-received donghua among fans outside of China, particularly in the West and among Spanish-speaking viewers. Domestically, it’s also one of Bilibili’s most-watched donghua alongside Carp Reborn and Ling Long: Incarnation.
The donghua tells the story of Wang Ling, a young genius in cultivation who achieved godly powers at a very young age. However, these special abilities also made him quite different from everybody else, hence, as he enter his high school days, he only wish to have a peaceful and simple daily routine. Yet, things won’t be that easy as at some point, he has to use his powers to protect his friends and surpass challenges that come along his way.
As you might be thinking, The Daily Life of the Immortal King features his hilarious high school life and how he avoided red flags that might unveil his powers while also keeping things under control. It makes the entire ride of watching the donghua a funny experience, and at the same time, exudes so much hype and eagerness for all the action it ought to deliver.
Who is the Author of The Daily Life of the Immortal King?
Now, let’s go back to the purpose of this post. We had learn about the donghua and its story, hence I would like to introduce the brilliant mind behind it to its fans and viewers, the author Ku Xuan who wrote The Daily Life of the Immortal King web novel on which the donghua had been adapted from.
This is the first installment in our new series in the blog – Beyond the Screen on which I’ll talk about the author and even the production team behind some of our favorite anime and donghua. I’m quite excited to start this series with Ku Xuan, the author of The Daily Life of the Immortal King since the donghua occupies a special place in my heart.
Ku Xuan was born on December 26, 1996, in the prefectural-level city of Wenzhou in the southeastern province of Zhejiang China. Aside from being an online writer, he is also a skilled screenwriter and lyricist. He is a member of the Shanghai and Wenzhou Internet Writers Association. As an author, he is also known as Jin Lei.
Among donghua fans, his most prominent work is The Daily Life of the Immortal King novel which was adapted into a donghua in 2020 and spawned 3 seasons until 2022. However, he also has other works such as The Only Koi in the Cultivation World, Magic Eye Shura (Demon Eye Shura), I Insert an Eye in Another World, and the three-book fantasy novel The God of the Spirit World.
In the donghua adaptation of The Daily Life of the Immortal King, there’s also a character whose name is Ku Xuan and one that may be equated to his presence in the donghua. The appearance of the character also resembles his own, although lately, this 2022, Ku Xuan surprised his fans by having a huge transformation in his weight-loss journey.
The Daily Life of the Immortal King Donghua
I read some time ago on Ku Xuan’s Weibo page that The Daily Life of the Immortal King Season 3 is the final season of the donghua adaptation, this only means that it is either the series has been canceled or will be put on hiatus until a further announcement has been made. This might surprise many fans but we can only wait for updates and an official announcement about the series until the 3rd season is over. Although, I’ve learned from other fans that The Daily Life of the Immortal King Season 4 might have been in production already and might be unveiled by Bilibili in their annual conference this 2022.
Now, this is where I shall end this short introduction about the brain behind one of our favorite donghua. Are there any donghua or web novel authors you would like to be featured next? Share with us who they are and their respective works in the comment section below.
