The climax of Xiao Yan’s journey in the Jia Ma Empire has come to an end. Battle Through the Heavens Special – Three-Year Agreement (Dou Po Cangqiong: San Nian Zhi Yue) had been a fantastic ride and eventually became the best installment from the series so far. The fight scenes and animation had been satisfying, and all the revelations just made us all hyped. It feels like the first puzzle in the story had been completed and we had been truly gifted with such an awesome show.
After the heartbreaking and somewhat a cliffhanger finale, the 13-episode stint of the Three-Year Agreement is over and it brought us so many fun and satisfying moments starting from Xiao Yan’s arrival in the Yunlan Sect, his epic fight against Nalan Yanran, the clashes of the superpowers that includes those at the Dou Huang stages, the appearance of individuals at Dou Zong level, and heartwrenching reunion of Xiao Yan and Yun Yun.
Now, everybody is asking – What’s Next? Will there be Battle Through the Heavens Season 6? Alright, people often assumed that the Three-Year Agreement special is the 5th season of the series while in fact, it’s just a special solely dedicated to the first climax of the story from the novel where Battle Through the Heavens had been adapted. It’s just the start of a new journey, of a new adventure and that is something we should watch out for in Battle Through The Heavens Season 5 (the actual show which is also known as Dou Po Cangqiong: Nian Fan) which is listed as part of Tencent’s 2022 lineup.
However, before we indulge ourselves with Battle Through The Heavens Season 5. The series will have a short break after the finale of the Three-Year Agreement which took place on January 16, 2022. Then, the donghua will return to deliver the reboot of its 1st season, called Battle Through The Heavens: Origin. This will be a short reboot of the first season which was animated by Shanghai Foch Film. If you had watched the first season, the character designs and animation are different from the current one. Well, Motion Magic only took over the project during the Season 1 Special where Xiao Yan first met Yun Yun.
After the reboot, Battle Through The Heavens Season 5 will follow. There’s no specific date though when will be its release, however, it was previously revealed that Tencent has scheduled Battle Through The Heavens for a continuous release just like Soul Land, all thanks to its successful stint in 2021.

So, what can we expect from the next chapter of Xiao Yan’s journey towards godhood, towards avenging his family, towards finding the path that he should take?
The new season of the series will cover his adventure in the Black-Corner Region, one of the most dangerous areas in the Dou Qi Continent. A place where anarchy rules and those with power devour the weak. In houses powerful sects and criminals, as well as one of the strongest cultivation schools in the Northwestern part of the continent, the Jia Nan Academy, a school which is even more powerful than the Yunlan Sect.
Here's a bit of a spoiler too. Xiao Yan will acquire his second Heavenly Flame in this region, he'll have a major upgrade to his power and skills, and he'll meet even more powerful foes than Yun Shan. He'll even encounter the first student of Yao Lao.
I wouldn’t delve deeper into it, but fans should stop searching for Doupo Canqiong Season 6 because we’re still at season 5 right now. As someone who had finished the novel, this is another chapter of Xiao Yan’s life that will get you excited and amused. Just keep the hype alive and let’s look forward to its return this 2022.
