It’s always amazing to have some kind of remedy or reliever whenever you’re tired, stress, or whenever you felt that life just f*cked you up. In my case, it’s always anime that saves the day and I usually have those feel-good and cute anime
as my stress-reliever. These anime with positive energy, good vibes, cute moments, or anything ordinary but seems relaxing simply gave me some space and time to relax.
This 2020, we have a handful of anime series like this, however only few truly managed to capture my heart and I’ll always have this anime in my archive to check out when things get rough on my end. In line with this, I would like to share 10 of my favorite feel-good and cute anime from this year 2020
and I do hope that you guys will discover a title from this list that in some way would help you ease your stress and forget your problem even if it’s for a fleeting moment.
BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.
This game anime is probably one of the most fluffy and bubbly anime of 2020
. BOFURI follows a teenage girl who plays online MMORPG and she’s a complete noob but her obnoxious defense stats shake the very foundation of the game she played. She became known as MAPLE and together with her friend and the people she had met online, a fantastic in-game experience has begun. It may look ordinary on the surface but BOFURI is a hell of a fun ride with total entertainment for people who just want to unwind. This was one of the titles that surprised the community from the winter 2020 anime lineup
Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle
If you’re looking for pure comedy anime this 2020, Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle will give you all the laughs that you could wish for. It’s cute, it’s hilarious, and sometimes, nonchalantly senseless but who cares, we’ve got an all-out entertainment from our adorable princess who got captured by the Demon King but instead of worrying about her safety, she only dreams of getting a comfortable sleep in the demon castle and she’ll do anything to achieve it. This parody anime will give you a run for your money whenever you think that the princess had reached her wit’s end.
Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear
Here’s another anime from the fall 2020 lineup
and it is a refreshing ride especially on a season when almost every anime airing is of shounen-type. This actually reminds me of Sword Art Online but it has a lighter mood on its story. It follows our main protagonist Yuna, who is a top-player of an MMORPG but she was later transported to another world, specifically a world inside a game but not the MMORPG that she’s been playing. There she had to build her life as an adventurer but there’s a twist, she had to wear a BEAR outfit. The costume gave her powerful stats and skills, although she looks bizarre in the eyes of the people, she had been surprising everyone with her feat. Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear follows the daily life of Yuna in this new world and every episode is fun and worth watching.
It’s a comedy anime, a dramatic one, and a relaxing slice of life set up. Kakushigoto is an anime that will surprise you in various ways. It’s nerve-wracking at some point, it’s funny as hell, and an amazing family story that I think many anime fans will understand and sympathize with. There are major plot twists but the essence of the story is there, it’s all about the value of the family narrated in a hilarious and sometimes exaggerated way.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Leads to Doom!
We have here our unusual isekai anime
, what will you do if you had been transported into another world but your fate has been sealed as you had been reincarnated as the villain? Such is the case in the story of My Next Life as a Villainess, also known as HameFura. Our main character is an ordinary girl who died and was transported inside the otome game she’s playing, but she realized that she’s actually the villain. She comes up with all the plans possible to avoid her demise and this struggle had become a fantastic and funny experience to follow for its viewers. On my end, it sincerely surprised me in many ways and I must say it’s total entertainment with a different comedic approach in isekai anime.
A Destructive God Sits Next to Me
Next in our list is probably one of the funniest anime of 2020, this one had been fantastic and truly hilarious to follow. It’s quite annoying but I have so many fun moments watching this and it has all the jokes that you could make the viewers burst into laughter. We follow the adorable characters in their daily school life with ambiguous shenanigans of the evil god of darkness.
By the Grace of the Gods
One of the anime from the fall 2020 lineup that surprised me is By the Grace of the Gods. It is an isekai anime that brings so much warmth to our plate with its heartwarming story and adorable vibes. We had a middle-aged man who died in the real world and reincarnated in a fantasy world as a little child. In this world, he was blessed with magic and luck from the gods, thus, his magical adventure begun as he meets people that help him in this new world and gives him the love and affection that he deserves.
Ascendance of a Bookworm
Here’s another relaxing yet dramatically heartwarming isekai anime
on our list, it’s Ascendance of a Bookworm which I can’t stop myself from comparing to By the Grace of the Gods. It is a unique experience especially for isekai fans as it thrives in its well-written narrative and adorable characters as well as interesting world-building. While the majority of isekai anime revolves around an adventure plot with tons of actions and humor, Ascendance of a Bookworm deals with commerce which somehow gives off a similar vibe to Spice & Wolf. Yet, at the core of the story, we have a bookworm who got reincarnated in a fantasy world and discovered that books don’t exist there. In fact, it’s very scarce that ordinary people don’t even know what it is, her desire to read books catalyzed her journey, and therefore, she introduced modern craftsmanship, logic, and works in this new world.
Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater
Next is probably one of the best slice of life anime of 2020, it’s the Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater which somehow reminds me of Barakamon. It’s literally about girls catching fish, crabs, and anything that can be caught from the shore as they spent their daily life at the breakwater. While they are a club on the surface, it’s quite hard to believe that this is a school anime, as the usually unfolds outside of the school and it’s really fun, relaxing, and hilarious.
If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die
Yes, this is an idol anime and yes, this is also a comedy anime. This is pure obnoxious if we will simply look at its comedic appeal but it really gives us an amazing slice of life set up and all the fun that we can ask from it. In this anime, we follow our main protagonist and her complicated relationship with her pop idol. Together with her friends who are also fans of their respective favorite idols of the same group, they gave us a fantastic fun experience and a glimpse at what it may really look like to be a pop idol fanatic.
