Fall 2019 Anime Lineup – My Final Impression Review

Best Anime of Fall 2019 Anime Lineup

Hey guys, it’s 2020 already but I am writing this review of the previously concluded fall 2019 anime seasonal lineup to finally wrapped the previous year and face the 2020 anime lineup with excitement and great positivity that it will be an awesome year for the anime industry and community.
I’ll keep this post short and precise as I have already posted the ranking on our Facebook page but I would like to share some final thoughts about it here. In general, the fall 2019 lineup had been consistently good, while it has few stunning titles that really captivated us, in terms of average performance, it has so many entertaining and exciting anime titles that keep us crave for more every week throughout its run.

Alright, let’s start our list with our Top 15 anime of fall 2019 lineup as follows:

Kono Oto Tomare! Sounds of Life Season 2

Kono Oto Tomare! Sounds of Life Season 2

This anime simply proves that it really has the best dramatic feels and music as it simply forced its way to the top despite the average start it had. I really loved this anime ever since it first premiered in the spring last year, but the 2nd season truly gave us a mesmerizing experience of how amazing koto music is and the incredible screenplay of the series which really melted our hearts from the core.

Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of the Underworld –

Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of the Underworld –

Despite being one of the most hated anime series of the decade Sword Art Online once again proved that it is on a different league against the other game-oriented or related anime series. Definitely, the fight scenes here are well animated with a well-written story. It’s also amazing to see the story unfold not just only in the perspective of the main protagonist but as well by the other characters including the villains and the people from the Dark Territory of the Underworld. Personally, this has been a great surprise for me since I am not a big fan of the Sword Art Online series, but this one definitely captured my heart as one of the best of the season.

Psycho-Pass 3

Psycho-Pass 3

This has been a very solid season that each turns give us so many surprises and twists. While I think it’s quite far from the superior Psycho-Pass season 1, it is amazing to see that Sibyl authority can be a challenge, but I am still rooting for them no matter how much I hated the system. The coverage of this season was quite vast and sometimes it really went a little bit astray from the main subject of Psycho-Pass but in the end, it was able to deliver a satisfying season during its 8-episode stints. And the finale even left the entire Psycho-Pass fandom in awe and filled with questions. In the end, this was a great ride and a good follow-up on my end since I watched in alongside the Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System movie trilogy.

My Hero Academia Season 4

My Hero Academia Season 4

Boku no Hero Academia Season 4 – We have here our best anime of 2018, and while it failed to secure the title in our list of best anime series of 2019, My Hero Academia was able to bare its fang just before the season ended and eventually landed in the 4th spot of our list of best anime of fall 2019 lineup. It’s really amazing that My Hero Academia always inspired us to be our own hero while also showing us that the path of becoming one is paved with challenges and struggles. Overall, My Hero Academia still has plenty of surprises and it seems that it might come to steal the best anime of the year title again this 2020, and I can’t wait for it.

Stars Align

Stars Align

Hoshiai no Sora – I can’t explain how much I love this anime and how special this one is. It tackles several major social issues including family, homosexuality, bullying, and many more. I love how amazing the people behind it could insert such fragile topics inside a sports anime like this. While it is not the best when it comes to sports genre, Stars Align definitely hit all the feels in other areas such as the drama, and slice of life genre.

Chihayafuru 3

Chihayafuru 3

What an amazing ride this anime had given me during the run of its first half. I hadn’t seen the first and second season yet of Chihayafuru but it feels like I’d knew hit already after simply watching few episodes although I still can’t thoroughly understand how karuta functions as a competitive game. I love how it’s not pushing the romance aspect so much and simply giving off that inspiring ambiance by highlighting only the competitive karuta over and over again. Furthermore, the animation is so flashy and beautiful.

Ahiru no Sora

Ahiru no Sora

We have here the best sports anime of the season and one that truly gives us an inspiring ride until now. I love the combination of humor and sports here while randomly inserting some scenes that could give us butterflies in our stomach. Although, we are getting the same vibes as Slam Dunk, and even Kuroko’s Basketball, Ahiru no Sora could stand on its own ground like a basketball anime.

Beastars

Beastars

The biggest surprise for was this one, I actually like it when I first saw the pilot episode but not expecting it will devour my system from deep within and had me craving to see for more. I am simply excited to see its sequel soon but Legosi, Louis and Haru truly gave us an interesting story showing us different faces of the strong and the weak.

Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front – Babylonia –

Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front – Babylonia –

Alright, we have one of my personal favorites and while it doesn’t reach that climactic moment yet, the anime had been a fun ride thanks for its awesome animation and wonderful combination of 2D & 3D visuals. I also think that the character designs are truly beautiful especially King Gilgamesh and Ishtar’s design. While I don’t see any special sparks from its story yet, it’s currently building that momentum that will eventually lead into an astounding climax which I am truly excited to see this 2020 in its 2ndcour run.

Blade of the Immortal

Blade of the Immortal

Stunning bloody fight scenes, interesting narration and visually beautiful graphics, Blade of the Immortal is really an amazing ride for people who love gore and action. It’s even amazing that sometimes I felt like I am falling in love with the protagonist’s enemy – the Itto-ryu people especially Anotsu, Magatsu, and that baldy Giichi. The plot is simply like your generic samurai anime but its well-executed animation is plainly beautiful despite being bloody.

Food Wars: The Fourth Plate

Food Wars: The Fourth Plate

We have here one of the most popular shounen anime of the decade – the foodgasm in Food Wars simply never ceases to amaze us. The entire run of the anime’s 4th season had been a swift one where I felt like it’s been rushed but still done decently despite covering only Team Shokugeki that was left after the finale of the 3rdseason. It’s amazing that we saw some backstory of our favorite characters here while also seeing a new side of our main protagonists.

We Never Learn: Bokuben Season 2

We Never Learn: Bokuben Season 2

Still, at 12th spot just like its 1stseason, Bokuben had been a hilarious ride with so much humor, drama, and interesting romance cliché to remember. While it’s far from the best, I believed that it’s one of the most satisfying and entertaining anime of 2019. Nariyuki Yuiga is such a good protagonist and I really love how well he connected with other girls but Furuhashi still occupied my heart most of the time and I simply ship her with Yuiga more than anyone else.

Babylon

Babylon

The most intense mystery/thriller anime of the season occupied the 13th spot. I believed it could rise even more in the ranking but its remaining episodes had aired right after the season ended so that actually given the other series to take over its spot from the Top 10 during our mid-season review. Nonetheless, it has been a great political thriller anime and with Ai Magase helming all the insanity here, she’s someone that could represent evil itself, and that reminded me of the anime Monster.

Ascendance of a Bookworm

Ascendance of a Bookworm

Another personal favorite of mine, while I am not a big-time bookworm anymore, this one is an anime that I could truly relate with. We have an awesome protagonist and supporting characters that simply spread so much positivity and bring forth color to fall 2019 anime lineup due to how innocent and witty this anime is.

Welcome to the Demon School Iruma-kun!!

Welcome to the Demon School Iruma-kun!!

Funny and heartwarming – that is not a common ambiance to feel from watching an anime with demons in it but this one is just so warm. The hilarious humor and insanely adorable characters are amazing to follow despite how nonsense the story is sometimes. Yes, it doesn’t make any sense that demons could act like that but Welcome to the Demon School Iruma-kun!! had given us a fantastic ride which will make you want to befriends demons especially Clara and Asmodeus, and our grandpa Sullivan.
