Makoto Shinkai is the director behind some of the visually stunning and mesmerizing films in anime history. His works usually feature gorgeous art, a sense of loss or longing, and a discovery of self. Among his famous anime films are 5 Centimeters Per Second, The Garden of Words, and The Place Promised in Our Early Days. In addition, he has an upcoming anime film titled “Kimi no Na wa” which is set to air in Japan in August 2016.

Among the works of Makoto Shinkai that many people might have no idea is the 5 minute black and white short titled, She and Her Cat (Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko). It is about the life of a girl which is told in the cat’s perspective. It earned the attention that leads the path towards the current career path of Makoto Shinkai.
Now, the short is getting a TV anime adaptation titled, She and Her Cat –Everything Flows–. It will follow the life of the young woman and her cat in full color.
Below is the new trailer for the upcoming anime series and the video narration shares this text: “On the hottest day of the summer, this cat and I started living together. The times we spent together, just going through our morning routine or looking at the familiar sunset, were precious. Through our little, gentle promises the world keeps spinning, so even if I get hurt, or there are times when I don’t know what to do, I can find my way again.”
