Heartwrenching Anime Film “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” to Bring a Bittersweet Romance in 2018

If 2017 hadn’t made you cry like an ocean yet as what Your Name. and A Silent Voice did in 2016, then I’ll gladly introduce a romantic and possibly sad anime film in 2018. The name is I Want to Eat Your Pancreas (Kimi no Suizō o Tabetai) which actually sounds awful but the story will definitely leave you speechless.

The upcoming anime film is based on the award winning novel with the same name by Yoru Sumino and illustrator loundraw. It won several awards already such as “Bestsellers 2016 (Overall) by NIPPAN” – 4th Place, “Bestsellers 2016 (Paperback Fiction) by NIPPAN” – 1st Place, “Bestsellers 2016 (Literary Books) by TOHAN” – 1st Place, “Bookstore Grand Prix 2016” – 2nd Place, and “DA VINCI BOOK OF THE YEAR 2015” – 2nd Place to name a few. The novel has sold over 1.2 million copies as of 2017.

 

If you enjoyed the scenery from 5 centimeters per second, and tsuki ga kirei, there’s no doubt that you’ definitely enjoy I Want to Eat Your Pancreas based on the scenes shown on its official trailer which was released in August 2017.

It may sound familiar because the novel had also inspired a manga adaptation by Idumi Kirihara that began its serialization at Futabasha’s Monthly Action magazine on August 25, 2016. In addition, a live-action film titled “Let Me Eat Your Pancreas” starring Takumi Kitamura and Minami Hamabe were released in 2017.

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas anime film is scheduled for release in Japanese theaters in fall of 2018.
