A 30-second teaser video for the upcoming spinoff anime series Itachi Shinden-hen was streamed on the official website of Naruto Shippūden. The series is an anime adaptation of the Naruto spinoff novels Itachi Shinden which revolves around the life of Uchiha Itachi. The end of the video features Itachi saying the phrase, “I will take the light.”

Itachi Shiden-hen premiere date is March 3, 2016; its complete title is listed Naruto Shippūden: Itachi Shinden-hen: Hikari to Yami (Naruto Shippūden: The True Legend of Itachi Volume ~Light and Darkness~) by Saikyo Jump. However, Shueisha‘s Shonen Jump magazine simply listed the title as Naruto Shippūden: Itachi Shinden-hen.
The Itachi Shiden novel is written by Takashi Yano and is divided into two parts: Itachi Shinden: Kōmyō-hen (The True Legend of Itachi: Glory Volume) and Itachi Shinden: Anya-hen (The True Legend of Itachi: Dark Night Volume).
